Meet the Author

J. J. O'Hearn was born on March 23rd, 1992 to Erma Donahue and Jarrett F. O'Hearn in Louisville, Kentucky in the United States of America. His birth name is Jarrett James O'Hearn. JJ grew up in Louisville with his grandparents Jeanne and Charles O'Hearn who were both retired teachers. In third grade, he discovered his passion for writing after he had to write a book for his class. The project was only supposed to be a couple of pages long and he, however, found himself surpassing the minimum requirement by more than a couple of pages.

Throughout elementary school, JJ surrounded himself with various novels and entering many different worlds. He enjoyed works by authors such as J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkein, D.J. MacHale, Christopher Paolini, Gary Paulson, and Brian Jacques. He was drawn more and more to creating worlds of his own were he can explore and discover his-self. He continued reading throughout middle and high school as well.

In 2006 during study hall at duPont Manual High School, he began writing a novel of his own. Originally titled Azdar Kendura, The Dragon Guardians: A New Generation is meant to involve elements from many of his favorite authors as well as delving into issues such as succession, family, sexuality, and confidence in oneself. He completed the novel in 2009 and went through a period of revision where he actually nearly rewrote the entire story in a different way. Finally after three years of revision he completed the novel in 2012. He tried to get publishers to publish the novel; however no one decided to pick it up. In the end, JJ went ahead and put his story online so that readers can see his work online.

Later in 2012, life threw curve balls at him. He ended up dropping out of college in fall 2012 and focused on working instead. In 2014 after the death of his grandmother, he decided to try and return to school again, this time deciding to go after a certificate in filmmaking at Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) in Lexington, Kentucky. It was there that JJ found a new passion, a passion for being a part of films and wanting to act. The final project for his first semester at BCTC was to create a trailer for a film. Instead of stopping at creating the trailer, JJ decided to actually go ahead and complete his first film, Ukeire. Being it his first film and the fact that all the actors were volunteers, most with little experience, it was an all to all eye-opening experience for him. Though the final project was as he expected it was still a push forward for his filmmaking career. In the same year he decided to found Emerald Shamrock Studios, a studios that will house his films and his photography works.

Two years later, he released his second film entitled, Musical Madness, which was actually a revised script that he had written for a humanities class when he was in high school. Musical Madness was a massive improvement over his first film; however, it still wasn't exactly what he was looking for. It was another positive step for JJ though.

Over the past couple of years he has accrued a couple of projects and has brainstormed a couple of ideas; however there's still much more that needs to be done before the next film. Currently four ideas are on the back-burner waiting for him to choose and to attempt to make a great film or novel out of it. However, at the moment he's currently in a dormant phase. He is currently working on turning Crimson Nation into his next novel and possibly his first series.
